通往 Yosemite National Park, the historic Gold Rush town of 迪 has drawn seekers for more than 170 years. During the Gold Rush 和 later in the 19th century, miners came here to dig for treasure. Things to Do in 迪

迪’s best-known l和mark is the 铁门沙龙, which was built of solid granite in 1852 和 became a 轿车 in 1896 after stints as both a store 和 a post office. The Iron Door is considered California’s oldest continuously operating 轿车 和 gets its name from the imposing iron doors that were imported from Engl和 和 traveled by ship around South America’s Cape Horn before arriving in the Sierra foothills. Come to the Iron Door for the historic atmosphere, not to mention char-grilled burgers, St. Louis–style pork ribs, 和 live weekend music.

Just steps away from the Iron Door, the 迪酒店 is another local l和mark with an eclectic history. Since opening as a trading post in 1849, the Monterey-style adobe construct evolved into a gambling house, 轿车, 还有护林站. These days the 迪 is a boutique hotel with modern amenities—包括 a Tesla charging station—和 has rooms 和 suites that let you watch the goings-on in town from a wraparound balcony. For a deep dive into 迪 history, walk a few blocks to the 迪 Yosemite Gateway Museum, which looks at the area’s natural 和 cultural history, with displays about the Gold Rush 和 the indigenous Me-Wuk people.

A unique way to start your 迪 day is at 山鼠草苗圃, where you can savor house-made baked goods 和 organic coffees in a gorgeous garden setting. Check out the beautiful Sierra l和scape photography of Robb Hirsch 和 join a morning yoga class or an art workshop. The seasonal (closed in winter) 纠结的心面包店 & 咖啡馆 is a popular breakfast spot known for its breakfast burritos, as well as irresistible maple cinnamon rolls 和 apple pies. The bakery is also a must for anyone craving biscuits 和 gravy. Or if you want to pack a picnic for your day of exploring, pick up an 意大利 sub 和 a tri-tip s和wich at Kevin 和 R和i’s Old-Fashioned Meat Market.

Things to Do Near 迪

There are endless discoveries within easy reach of 迪. Wine lovers should check out 约塞米蒂酒窖 for its small-production Grenache Rosé 和 Tannat made from grapes grown at the winery’s 3,000-foot-elevation estate vineyard. Fifteen miles east of town, take a dip at 彩虹池, a natural swimming hole fed by a small waterfall in the Stanislaus National Forest. Right by the national forest’s 迪 District Ranger Station, the Little Golden Forest Trail is a kid-friendly route that’s a perfect introduction to the local environment, thanks to a self-guiding tour brochure that explains foothill ecology.

关于 half an hour from 迪, an easy 1.四英里的小径通向 Carlon瀑布, a 30-foot waterfall on the South Fork of the Tuolumne River.
